Ecstasy Tears

I feel revoltingly vain submitting YET another self portrait, but I guess it's just the subject I know best. This one is older and has been kicking around my hard drive for ages. As a result, this period in my life in now a time gone by. It was a summer of intense emotion, ranging from ecstasy to despair. Seen wearing a hoody that was very meaningful to me.

The name comes from the comforting advice of a good friend of mine. "Everyone gets ecstasy tears," he told me, which helped me cope with many a Sunday morning. Thanks Derek.

Kind of lame. I hate the concept now. But I just want it off my fucking hard drive, which in the end is the driving force of most of my productions. On a positive note I did learn a lot doing this piece and experimented with a lot of new things. Having been taking a painting class at Emily Carr and learning the art for the first time in my life, I've actually come to understand, to my delight, some of the properties and intended uses of long employed tools as they relate to actual paint, and they now are of a broadened use to me. Life. You can always learn something if you're not careful.

Will probably retouch a number of things in the next days, but for the most part in think I'm getting the hang of the photorealism thing.
